Beirut, Lebanon
Why it’s on the route
Kalei Coffee Co. was founded in 2015 by Dalia Jaffal, who roasts on a six-kilo Giesen and is credited with helping start Beirut's third-wave scene. The cafés offer two espressos at a time, rotating filter coffees and a specialty take on the Lebanese ibrik, plus a cupping room for barista training. Its best-known shop occupies a restored 1950s house with a garden, and an all-day food menu, wine and cocktails are served too.
