Cedar was founded in 2021 by Leigh Wentzel and Winston Thomas, alumni of Rosetta's roastery and Origin's barista academy; one co-founder is a two-time South African and 2019 African barista champion. Their shopfront at Side Street Studios in Woodstock serves their own roasts, with aims of becoming Africa's best roastery.
