Worth a journey
San José · Barrio Escalante, Costa Rica
Why it’s on the route
Cafeoteca was opened in 2013 by chef Camille Ratton and Juan Ignacio Salom and roasts in its own roasting and cupping room. The menu is built around coffees from all eight Costa Rican growing regions, brewed by more than ten methods including siphon, V60, Chemex and the traditional chorreador. It occupies a 1958 international-style house in Barrio Escalante with an indoor garden and a small home-barista shop.
