Why it’s on the route

The Beans was started by Ijaz Ahemed, who grew up in his father's spice trade in Colombo's old trading quarter and bought a roaster in Germany after tiring of the city's café coffee. He roasts in a small workshop on Old Moor Street, supplies cafés and hotels across Colombo, and pulls strong espressos for visitors in a small sitting space.
