Why it’s on the route

Old Spike started as a roastery in 2014 and roasts on a machine inside its small Peckham Rye café. It buys beans from Central and South America and Africa, and serves single-origin filter and espresso. The business trains and employs people who have experienced homelessness, and the shop is a small brick-walled room with a bench outside.
