Worth a detour
Black Coffee Roasting Co.
Missoula · Northside / Spruce, United States
Why it’s on the route
Black Coffee Roasting was founded in 2010 by Matt McQuilkin and Jim Chapman, a former cheesemonger and wine rep, who started with organic coffees in a garage. They now roast on a 35-kilo Loring in a 5,000-square-foot Quonset hut on the Northside, roasting each origin separately and blending afterwards. The counter has a Hario V60 pour-over bar, a cold-brew tap and rotating espressos on a La Marzocco.
