Why it’s on the route

Morning Call has served café au lait and beignets since Joseph Jurisch opened it in the French Market in 1870, making it the city's second-oldest coffee stand after Café du Monde. It moved to Metairie in 1974 and ran a stand in City Park from 2012 until losing that lease, then reopened on Canal Boulevard near the park in 2020. Expect chicory-style café au lait and powdered-sugar beignets rather than specialty coffee.
