Why it’s on the route
The Bean Gallery has been a Mid-City fixture on North Carrollton Avenue since Turkish-born owner Emre Ergen opened it in 2007 in the former City Perk building, and it was among the first businesses to reopen after Hurricane Katrina. It has stuck with the same roaster and bakers since day one, serving espresso drinks, Turkish coffee, teas, pastries and made-to-order paninis. Most customers are regulars, with indoor and outdoor seating.
