Why it’s on the route

Undercurrent was opened in 2018 by Todd and Erin Huber in a roughly 70-year-old house on Commonwealth Avenue in Plaza Midwood, and doubles as an SCA-accredited training campus. It began as a multi-roaster bar; its coffee now comes from Night Swim, the Charlotte roastery the Hubers co-founded. Pour-over is brewed on Kalita Wave at a long tiled bar.
