Why it’s on the route

Vermont Artisan Coffee & Tea began in 2001 as a roastery and tea-packing business tied to Mané Alves, whose Coffee Lab International shares the same building. Since late 2017 both have operated from a custom-built red barn in Waterbury Center that houses six roasters, from a 3-kilo Diedrich to a wood-fired Ghibli. The café in the barn, near Stowe, serves the house coffees and teas.
