Special concept: worth seeing for what it is
The Münch
Yao, Japan
Why it’s on the route
The Münch was opened in 1981 by Kanji Tanaka in a residential part of Yao, Osaka, originally to display his rare motorcycles; the name comes from a Münch 1200 TTS-E. It has since become famous for coffee, especially beans aged for decades and served as ultra-concentrated, ice-cold coffee by the spoonful, including a cup priced in six figures. Drinks come in Meissen porcelain and Baccarat glass.
