Why it’s on the route
Piu Piu Piu is a tiny café on the first floor of the Zhongshan Building, the Kampung Attap arts hub near Chinatown, run by a founder who goes by Unagi and draws on Japanese-style hospitality. Half the room is the bar, the rest mismatched décor and local artists' work, with an outdoor nook and a back room for small exhibitions. Espresso drinks share the menu with matcha lemonade, chrysanthemum milk and friends' cakes.
