Why it’s on the route

Wells began in Taiwan in 2013 and later brought its roasting to George Town, where it occupies a two-storey corner of the Hin Bus Depot. Everything is roasted light in two styles, a sweeter, fuller traditional Japanese profile and a brighter modern Nordic one, with tasting cards explaining each cup. Filter is brewed on V60, Kono or as Kanazawa-style iced pour-over at the ground-floor bar, while the upstairs room has bookshelves and windows on all sides.
