Beacon was opened in 2010 by John and Jennifer Wheir as Ventura's first roaster-retailer, sourcing micro-lots directly from producers and roasting on site behind a big window at the back of the café. Tucked into an industrial estate, the cozy, unpretentious shop brews rotating micro-lots and runs coffee classes in a back room.
