Worth a detour
Bwè Kafe
Hoboken · Uptown, United States
Why it’s on the route
Bwè Kafe – the name means "drink coffee" in Haitian Creole – was started in Hoboken in 2013 by local residents led by Maryanne Fike, after relief work following the 2010 Haiti earthquake. Part of the proceeds supports education and water projects in Haiti. The original Washington Street shop is a warm, neighbourly room serving house blends, seasonal specials and a 20-hour cold brew.
