Why it’s on the route
Modcup began in 2013 as a coffee cart and opened its first shop on Palisade Avenue in the Heights in 2014; it is now owned by Travas Clifton. Beans from farms in Colombia, Ethiopia, Guatemala and Bali are roasted at its Journal Square roastery café and sold within 18 days of roasting. A larger Downtown roastery built around a 35-kg Loring roaster has been announced.
