Why it’s on the route
Compass Coffee was founded by former Marines Michael Haft and Harrison Suarez, who opened this café and roastery on 7th Street NW in Shaw in September 2014. It grew into one of DC's best-known roasters, and the original location still serves its own beans as espresso and drip, with bags to take home.
