George Howell Coffee - Godfrey Hotel

Why it’s on the route

George Howell, who built Boston's Coffee Connection in the 1970s and later co-founded Cup of Excellence, roasts lighter single-origin coffees in Acton for this downtown flagship, opened in the Godfrey Hotel in 2016. The bar pairs Modbar pour-over brewed through Kalita Waves with espresso on Kees van der Westen machines, keeping several single origins on filter at once. A back room called the Exploratorium hosts cuppings and sells beans and brewing gear.
