Why it’s on the route

Hollow has been on Irving Street in the Inner Sunset since the late 2000s, run by Dawn Kirker and William LaMontagne in a narrow, lime-green building that was once a garage and later a barbershop. Espresso is pulled on a La Marzocco, and the counter carries small-batch baked goods such as a coconut-glazed oatcake. Behind the open-windowed front is a back room where regulars settle in to read or write.
