Why it’s on the route

Andytown was started in 2014 by Michael McCrory and Lauren Crabbe in a roughly 600-square-foot shop on Lawton Street in the Outer Sunset. The company roasts its own coffee, now at a facility next to its Taraval café, with espresso pulled on Kees van der Westen machines and pour-over on St. Anthony Industries drippers. Seating at the original is limited, and it is where the Snowy Plover — espresso, sparkling water and housemade whipped cream — became the signature drink.
