Why it’s on the route

Kru Coffee was opened in 2016 by Kristi Brock and Ryan Miller, a barista trained under David Schomer of Espresso Vivace, in an unlikely strip-mall spot off Route 50. They roast in-house on an electric Joper, including coffee from their own farm in Hawaii, and brewed single origins on Alpha Dominche Steampunk machines alongside a Slayer espresso bar. The airy room has couches, communal tables and a loft above the bar.
