Why it’s on the route

Sweetleaf began in Long Island City and opened this Greenpoint café and roastery in 2015, run by owner Rich Nieto. It fills an old industrial warehouse with exposed brick, high timber ceilings and two roll-up garage doors, and a 15-kilo Joper roaster sits in the back behind a sliding wooden door with windows. The menu covers espresso drinks and Rocket Fuel, Sweetleaf's chicory cold brew.
