Sam James opened the Harbord Street bar in 2009 and later began roasting his own coffee in a leased space in the Junction, first under the Cut Coffee label. The roasts are medium-profile and aim for sweetness, and the shops serve espresso drinks and filter coffee. The original Annex room is small and counter-focused.
