Why it’s on the route
Saffron roasts shade-grown Arabica from Hmong, Mien, Gasak and Khmu farming communities around Luang Prabang and buys each farmer's whole harvest at Fair Trade prices. It was founded to give former opium growers an alternative livelihood, and the riverside brew bar and roastery offers a manual brew station alongside espresso. It also runs tours of its coffee plots and processing plant.
