Why it’s on the route

Humble Origins was founded by Javier and Melissa, Singaporeans who moved to Yangon in 2013 and built Myanmar specialty brands there before bringing this café home to Joo Chiat. The coffee comes from more than 30 smallholder producers in Myanmar's Shan State, around Ywangan, and is sold as espresso and filter roasts. The narrow shophouse has a pared-back Scandinavian look, with bar seats at the counter and a short food menu.
