Why it’s on the route

The Roastery by Roj is run by Roj Pongpijit, credited with bringing third-wave coffee to Chiang Rai, who roasts his own beans and works with farmers on coffee development. The large wooden shop on Sanambin Road offers more than ten mostly light-roasted local coffees, washed and natural, for filter or espresso, with shelves of imported beans for sale. A long milk-drink menu, food and non-coffee drinks round it out.
