Why it’s on the route

Lighthouse Roasters has been on the corner of North 43rd Street and Phinney Avenue since 1994, in a former natural-foods co-op building, run by Ed Leebrick, who bought the business in 1993. Coffee is roasted by hand in small batches every day in vintage cast-iron roasters inside the café itself. It is a plain, old-school neighbourhood shop for espresso and drip, mostly filled with Fremont and Phinney locals.
