Why it’s on the route

Pannikin's Leucadia shop occupies the old Encinitas railway depot, built in 1887 by the California Southern Railroad and later moved from its original site to North Coast Highway 101. Pannikin, a North County coffeehouse since 1968, serves coffee, tea and light food inside the old wooden station building, making it more of a historic stop on the coast road than a destination for the coffee itself.
