Why it’s on the route

Portrait was launched in 2019 by John Onwuchekwa and Aaron Fender, roasting single origins named after influential Black figures, such as Stacey and Toni. Its café opened in 2023 on the ground floor of the historic Lottie Watkins Building in the West End, above the roastery, with floor-to-ceiling windows, plants, local art and records, and drinks like The Champ, a cereal-milk cold brew.
