Why it’s on the route

Proud Mary is a Melbourne roaster founded by Nolan Hirte, and its Alberta Street café, opened in 2017, was the company's first in the United States. Hirte and his father built the space in a former garage from red brick, concrete and timber, down to the hand-made stools. It runs like a Melbourne café, with table service, flat whites and long blacks, coffee roasted in-house and a full Australian-style brunch menu.
