Why it’s on the route

Trident has been part of Pearl Street since 1980, adding espresso and drip coffee a year later, and became employee-owned in 2020 when eight longtime staff signed on as owners. Its coffee comes from Idle Hands Roasting Company, which Trident started in 2021 with a group of roasters and green buyers, and loose-leaf teas are imported directly from growers in Asia. Half the building is a new-and-used bookshop, with readings and music on the back patio.
