Verve Coffee Roasters (Pacific Ave flagship)

Why it’s on the route

Verve was founded in Santa Cruz in 2007 by Colby Barr and Ryan O'Donovan and still roasts in town, supplying cafés from Los Angeles to Tokyo. The downtown Pacific Avenue shop is a large, high-ceilinged room running through to Front Street, with Kees van der Westen espresso machines and a Modbar pour-over station brewing Kalita Wave filters alongside batch brew.
