Red Bay Coffee

Why it’s on the route

Red Bay Coffee was started in 2014 by artist and café veteran Keba Konte as a garage micro-roastery under his Fruitvale home, built around equity for people of colour and women across the coffee chain. Its roastery and event space now fills a converted factory a few blocks from Fruitvale BART, where coffee is roasted on a Probat UG-22. The company also runs a profit-sharing model and has grown to several cafés.
