Why it’s on the route

Zumbar has been roasting in Sorrento Valley since 2003, with its retail café and roasting operation under one roof in an unassuming strip mall. Coffee is roasted on a vintage cast-iron machine and selected through brokers and the team's own cupping, then sold as bagged roasts such as Hummingbird and El Mundo. At the bar, the focus is ristretto-style espresso and French press, with indoor and outdoor seating.
