Why it’s on the route
Bird Rock Coffee Roasters began in 2006 in the Bird Rock neighbourhood of La Jolla, and this La Jolla Boulevard café is its original home. The company built its name on direct trade with growers and was named Roast Magazine's Micro Roaster of the Year for 2012; since 2017 it has been owned by Jeff Taylor, founder of PT's Coffee in Kansas. The café serves its own roasts as espresso and pour-over.
