Why it’s on the route
Hoppenworth & Ploch was founded in 2008 by Matthias Hoppenworth and Julian Ploch, and roasts light on an antique 12 kg Probat at its Nordend roastery café. It imports directly from origin and has begun buying from a cooperative in Tanzania, serving filter by V60 and espresso on a three-group La Marzocco. A large communal table faces the bar and roasting area, with a small library shelf. Crema magazine named it Roaster of the Year in 2021.
