Why it’s on the route

Café Enseigne d'Angle opened in a Harajuku back street in July 1975, in a basement designed with architect Shimpei Matsuki to evoke the French countryside. Coffee is deep-roasted, using aged beans from Cocktail-do, and brewed by flannel drip; the signature Kohaku no Joō is shaken iced coffee served in a Lalique glass under a layer of cream. A long wooden counter, plaster walls, beams and fine china complete the room.
