Why it’s on the route
The Local was set up by the team behind Good Coffee, the Tokyo specialty-coffee guide, as a showcase for roasters from around Japan, with names such as Taoca, Rokumei and Trunk rotating through its hoppers. Coffee is served as espresso drinks, a weekly-changing batch brew and V60 or Kalita Wave pour-overs, hot or iced. It has since moved from its original Aoyama-dori spot to a second-floor room in Jingumae.
