Why it’s on the route

Café Toujours Débute has been brewing in a basement off Higashi-Gotanda since 1986, reached by a staircase down from the street. It is a classic kissaten built around flannel (nel) drip coffee made with aged beans, with the house blend as the drink to order. Homemade sweets such as pumpkin pudding and rare cheesecake round out a short menu in a quiet, warmly lit room.
