Worth a detour
Anchorhead Coffee
Seattle · Downtown, United States
Why it’s on the route
Anchorhead was started in 2013 by Mike Steiner and Jake Paulson in a garage with a small Diedrich roaster, first known for bottled cold brew before opening its downtown flagship in 2016. Roasting now happens on a Loring in a separate warehouse, with a focus on full-bodied natural-process coffees; the flagship was fitted with a Synesso espresso machine and a Poursteady pour-over brewer. The dark, moody café is known as much for its pastries as for the coffee.
