Why it’s on the route

Exo Roast Co. was started by Chris Byrne and Doug Smith, who had each been roasting for years before teaming up. The original café on North 6th Avenue was built around a Probat roaster at the front, turning out medium-light roasts with coffees from Mexico, their favourite origin, as well as Guatemala, Colombia and Ethiopia. A second café is on West Simpson Street in Barrio Viejo.
