Why it’s on the route
Hexe is Parker Slade's roastery café, which grew out of home roasting into a wholesale business before opening here in the former leasing office of the historic Julia C. Lathrop Homes. Its signature is barrel-aged coffee: green beans rest in bourbon or rye barrels from local distillers before roasting. By day it is a café with pastries by Dina Cimarusti; in the evening it adds coffee cocktails, beer and a large dog-friendly patio.
