Humphreys Street Coffee

Why it’s on the route

Humphreys Street is the social enterprise of Harvest Hands CDC, begun in 2008 when director Brian Hicks started teaching South Nashville high-schoolers to roast specialty coffee. Teens from the neighbourhood roast, pack and work the bar alongside mentor baristas, and one of the first students is now head roaster; all profits go back into local programs and scholarships. The café serves espresso and pour-over.
