Willoughby's was founded in New Haven in 1985 by Barry Levine and the late Bob Williams, one of Connecticut's first specialty roasters. The Branford shop opened in 1994 after a fire at the original Chapel Street store, and it roasts every weekday for all Willoughby's locations, with Coffee Review scores reaching 94 for a natural Ethiopia.
