Why it’s on the route
Wonderstate began in 2005 as Kickapoo Coffee, a coffee shop in the small Driftless farm town of Viroqua founded by Denise and TJ Semanchin and Caleb Nicholes, and took its current name in 2020. In 2015 its Viroqua roastery became the first traditional coffee roastery powered by an on-site solar array, and the company pays farmers a minimum price set well above Fair Trade Organic. The Main Street café is the hometown flagship, with a bakery case and a light daytime menu.
