Kusa Makura

Tokyo, Japan

Why it’s on the route

Kusamakura is a small, dim kissaten on a main road in Nishi-Shinbashi, near Uchisaiwaicho Station, with downlights, bookshelves, plants and records playing. Coffee is roasted in-house and brewed by nel (flannel) drip, ordered by strength rather than origin, and its iced coffee comes very cold and bitter. Homemade cakes, such as a cheesecake with salted chocolate and caramel, are the usual pairing.
