Why it’s on the route

Walden Woods Kyoto opened in late 2017 in a renovated Taisho-era Western-style house on Gojo-dori, within walking distance of Kyoto Station, its rooms painted entirely white after Thoreau's Walden. Coffee is roasted in-house on a vintage 1960s Probat, with single origins, seasonal blends and espresso drinks on the menu. The upstairs room is a bare white space with a wooden floor where people sit or lie down.
