Why it’s on the route

Weekenders was started in 2005 as a café in Sakyo by Masahiro and Ayumi Kaneko, and has focused on roasting since 2011, with Masahiro roasting light to medium for natural sweetness and a tea-like body. Its well-known Tominokoji café, set in a renovated machiya with a for-here-only policy, has relocated, and a new shop in Shinmachi opened in autumn 2026. Coffee rotates through seasonal single origins alongside an espresso blend.
