Why it’s on the route

Coat Check opened in 2017 in the grand foyer of the Athenaeum, an 1890s landmark co-designed by Kurt Vonnegut's great-grandfather, and is co-owned by Neal Warner. It pours coffee from Indianapolis roaster Tinker, with single-origin manual brews made at a slow bar in the theatre's old ticket booth. Its butterscotch latte is a signature, and the two-level space has plenty of seating.
