Why it’s on the route

Coffee Exchange has roasted on Wickenden Street since 1984 and is run by Charlie Fishbein; most of its green coffee comes through Cooperative Coffees, an importer working with small-scale farmers, and nearly all of it is organic and fair-trade certified. Beans are roasted in a red Diedrich visible from the counter, in a former church rectory with a quiet upstairs room and a patio.
